A crisis at the Southern border and GOP schemes to ship immigrants north has a New York housing developer seeing dollar signs.
Henry Fleckenstein is the CEO of Fleckenstein Properties Ltd based in Lenox Hill, Manhattan. Fleckenstein is pursuing permits to break ground on a Section 8 housing development in Baileyville that would be intended to house Latino immigrants being shipped north by the likes of Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott.
The proposed development would be 14 stories tall with a total of 140 units in the building.
“There is a great opportunity here for rural Maine’s economy to benefit from a sudden influx of new labor,” said Fleckenstein. “Especially with these young people today who can’t take $12.75 for an answer, more Venezuelans in your neighborhood is going to get your contracting business in gear no problem.”
There is some opposition to the developer’s decision to break ground in Baileyville.
“What can I say,” Fleckenstein said, chuckling. “I could have picked Robbinston.”
